Hromnice Lake
(also known as Red Lake) is a natural monument near a village called Hromnice. The lake is 130 metres wide, 190 metres long and 18 metres deep. It was created when slate mining was stopped and the drain tunnel was buried. Thanks to this, the lake is 60 metres under the level of the surrounding terrain.
In the surroundings of the lake there are spoil tips and the north and south walls of the lake are interesting extremophile habitats. The lake and its surroundings (12,2 ha) were declared a natural monument in 1975. The lake is at 1 kilometre distance.
